Grammy-winning singer and pianist Harry Connick, Jr. helped launch the National Jukebox in a press conference in Washington, DC Connick sang “I’m Just Wild About Harry” by Eubie Blake (1883-1993), pioneer of jazz born in Baltimore. “This impressive collection is the opportunity to hear the story,” said Librarian of Congress James H. Billington, in the event on Tuesday. “This collection includes popular music, music, dance, opera, early jazz, famous speeches, poetry and humor. This is what our grandparents and great grandparents played, danced, and sang along with.”
