google laptop

On Tuesday, Google revealed to the world the Cr-48, their beta version of the upcoming Chrome OS Notebook. In the grand Google tradition, the new Chrome OS Notebook is being sent out to end users for invitation-only beta testing. While the operating system is a work in progress, and the notebook won't hit the market until mid-2011, you may be able to get your hands on the new device right now by joining the Chrome OS Pilot Program.
This public-beta philosophy has served Google well in the past, and they have embraced it again for their new Chrome OS. While the notebook is a great perk, the actual testing is for the software. They need people to use the Chrome OS every day, for the full range of everyday activities. They also are crowd sourcing their marketing efforts, providing test units for amateur advertisers and YouTube virtuosos that want a crack at publicizing the new web-centric OS.

Your first option for getting your hands on a new Chromebook is to join the Pilot Program. Because Google also wants to move the Chrome OS into business and organizational use, they are also accepting entire groups into the trial, meaning that you could outfit your entire small business, classroom, or non-profit group with test units.
