The model, selected from among three finalists in a city competition, is designed so that it could eventually be updated with an electric engine. The city is exploring the possibility of ultimately replacing its entire fleet of more than 13,000 taxis with vehicles powered by electricity.

"It was kind of that Boobie Miles moment," said Quinn, referencing the Texas high school tailback featured in the best-selling book Friday Night Lights, whose career was derailed by a knee injury. "When I looked at my mom when they told me I wouldn't play sports again, I became that big old baby and busted out in tears.
"It was just heartbreaking. But it didn't slow me down.
"And I'm still going."
Quinn has to undergo MRI monitoring every six months to check on the tumor. He showed a humble side yet a quiet confidence when he spoke to reporters Saturday before running a 4.73-second, 40-yard dash on Monday.

But as the Quarterback Panic of 2011 widened, with Tennessee reaching for Jake Locker at No. 8 and Minnesota really reaching for Christian Ponder at No. 12, the picture suddenly brightened in the Rams' draft room.
As it turned out, the Rams had more choices than could be expected when it came time to make the No. 14 selection in the draft Thursday night. Included in that cluster of potential picks were three prime ones -- Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara, Illinois defensive tackle Corey Liuget and North Carolina defensive end Robert Quinn.

As a freshman in 2008 Quinn started 12 of 13 games, recording 34 tackles (6.5 for losses)and two sacks and forced two fumbles. He was also named the ACC's Brian Piccolo Award winner as the league's most courageous player and finished third in the voting for the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.
As a sophomore in 2009 Quinn had 52 tackles and led the ACC and was 15th in the country in tackles for losses with 19.0 and was second in the league and 16th in the nation in sacks with 11.0 sacks. Additionally, he had three pass breakups and was second in the ACC and fourth in the country with six forced fumbles. For his efforts he was a First-team All-ACC selection and was a Second-team All-American by CBS. He also finished second in the ACC Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Quinn attended Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston, South Carolina. As a senior his season was shortened after undergoing brain surgery for a benign tumor. 
 Quinn made a full recovery and will be able to resume his football career. Had 54 tackles and five sacks, 10 TFL and 21 quarterback hurries before the surgery. He was ranked the 19th best defensive end recruit by Scout.com and the 18th by Rivals.com[2][3] He was also a 3-time heavyweight state champ in 4A wrestling.
